Copyright Eliza Fegley, 2001

Needed:
Glue
Tissue paper or rice paper or thin fabric
Manilla folder
Pressed board like that found at the back of tablets

Instructions:

1. Print out pattern below.

2. Cut one fan shape out of manilla folder.

3. Cut out pressed board strips and glue to fan piece as shown below. Do this to both sides of the fan piece.

4. Cut out handle, 2 pieces from pressed board, and glue to front and back of fan.

4. Using tissue paper, rice paper or a thin fabric, glue to fan piece. Place a light coating of glue to the sides of the fan piece and to the strips. Once glued, cut to the shape of the fan piece.

5. Cut a long strip of tissue paper or what you are using and wrap it around the fan handle, gluing down the edges.

6. Once dried, you can decorate your fan or leave plain.

**The fans made out of rice paper or a thin fabric turn out beautiful and this fan is very sturdy. Plain white tissue paper was used for these two fans to be better able to show the steps.
