Quilling
Copyright Eliza Fegley, 2001

Quilling is a tradition of rolling colored strips of paper, squeezing them into different shapes and then using them to decorate things such as cards, frames, pictures, etc.

Please excuse the poor qulity of the pics. It was difficult to roll the papers and then snap off a picture while still holdng the rolls.

Needed:
Colored paper
Glue

Instructions:

1. Cut thin strips of colored paper.

2. Tightly roll up a strip.

3. Hold the tightly rolled strip for a moment and then let it loosen a bit.

4. Put a drop of glue at the end of the strip and hold into place.

5. When glue is dry, pinch the coil into shape.

The various shapes can be an eye, a teardrop, or a triangle.

Once you've made a small bunch of these, the quills can be arranged to make designs. You can glue them onto cardstock to make cards or placecards. Kids also have a great time making patterns with these.
